DENTAL CROWNS, BRIDGES, INLAYS, ONLAYS & VENEERS
- We create custom temporaries until your permanent restoration is completed.
- Sensitivity and occasionally some soreness is common, and should subside within in a few days.
- If your temporary loosens, comes out or breaks, DO NOT throw it out. Call our office and we will schedule an appointment to put it back.
- Oral hygiene is important! Brush and floss, but do not floss around temporaries.
NEW DENTURES & Adjustments
- Many patients experience some discomfort and speech problems when they first receive their dentures. New dentures sometimes need several adjustments to fit comfortably.
- Do not sleep with your dentures. Remove your dentures every night and keep the denture in a container of denture cleaner.
- Thoroughly brush your dentures with water before wearing them.
TOOTH EXTRACTIONS
- Use the gauze, given to you, to put pressure on the extraction site for at least 30 minutes without removing it. If bleeding continues, change to a new gauze and reapply pressure for an additional 30 minutes. Continue to do so until the bleeding has stopped.
- After surgery, place a cold compress on your face near the extraction site for 10 minutes. Remove for 5 minutes. Repeat.
- Do not eat or drink hot foods and beverages after surgery.
- Do not rinse your mouth.
- Do not use a straw.
- Do not spit.
- Do not drink carbonated beverages.
- Do not brush your teeth on the day of the surgery. Resume regular oral hygiene the next day.
- Occasional pain, swelling, and bruising, are normal. Ensure that you take your prescribed medication and use a cold compress on your face as needed.
- For the first couple of days, eat soft foods, such as soups, shakes, and yogurt.
- Take care not bite your lips, and cheeks. Children should be watched and reminded not to do these things.
DENTAL FILLINGS
- Do not chew or eat until the numbness subsides before eating.

- Any sensitivity or soreness, should go away in a few days.
GUM SURGERY
- Pain, swelling, and bleeding is normal following gum surgery. Use a cold compress on your face near the surgical site for 10 minutes at a time, with 5 minutes off, the day of your surgery. This will reduce pain, swelling, and bleeding.
- Take your prescribed medications as instructed.
- Ensure that you have a follow-up appointment scheduled.
- Do not touch the area with your fingers (this also increases the possibility of infection).
- Brush and floss the rest of your teeth as you normally would, but take care not to brush or floss near the sutures.
- It is possible that you may experience a loss of sensation at the surgical site. This is common.
- Do not spit, smoke or use a straw the day of your procedure, and for a few days post surgery.
IMPLANT SURGERY

- You may feel sensitivity for the first few days, but it should gradually subside.
- Take your prescribed medication as directed.
- Do not bite hard for one hour after your appointment as a "Temporary Filling" is put in the tooth.
- Upon restoration of a permanent filling, be sure to chew carefully on the opposite side of your mouth.
- Do not touch the area with your fingers (this also increases the possibility of infection).
- Take care to brush and floss gently.
